In Him

Acts 17:28
…for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’

The very existence of our life is found in Jesus Christ. Because of Him we have life. Jesus is the Word that became flesh, therefore He and the Word are one. To truly live we must allow His Word to work in us. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 we are told that all scripture is profitable for doctrine, rebuke, correction, and instruction in righteousness so that we may be throughly equipped for every good work (what God has planned for us). We must continually receive DOCTRINE, teaching from the Word of God. As we are taught the Word REBUKE will come, which means to reveal areas of our life that need to change. If we will not turn from rebuke we will then receive CORRECTION from the Word, which is God revealing how to change the areas we are not walking in line with His will. As we make the corrections we are INSTRUCTED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, which refers to a deeper relationship with God for we were given righteousness (right standing with God) so we could develop our relationship with Him. Letting the Word do it’s work in your life is how you truly live, move, and have the kind of life God has for you.

Knowing God

2 John 1:9
Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.

To walk with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father you must abide in the doctrine (teachings) of our Lord Jesus. You can’t live the way you want to and walk in close fellowship with God. As a great man of God Dr. Roy Hicks said, “God loves everyone the same, but He does not fellowship with everyone the same.” Getting to know the Lord Jesus and our Heavenly Father is the main reason Jesus came. Through sin man’s fellowship with God was broken and man became estranged from God. Jesus provided for us a way back to the Father so we could once again have fellowship with Him and get to know Him. Coming to God’s Word and learning His ways is how we get to know God for He and His Word are one. The great Smith Wigglesworth said, “I can’t understand God by feelings. I can’t understand the Lord Jesus Christ by feelings. I can only understand God the Father and Jesus Christ by what the Word says about them. God is everything the Word says He is. We need to get acquainted with Him through the Word.” Jesus taught us how to walk with Him and the Father. If we will follow His teachings you will walk in fellowship with God.

Add To Your Faith

2 Peter 1:5-8
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Would you like to have a greater knowledge of Jesus Christ? Peter tells us how we can obtain it by adding to our faith the list of things he names in the above scriptures. So once born again if we really want to know Jesus Peter said you must then add these to your life. Virtue – Moral excellence, living a holy life set apart unto God. Knowledge – Having an understanding of God and His Word. Self-Control – One who masters his desires and is not ruled by the flesh. Perseverance – A consistency in the things of God. Godliness – A reverent fear and respect for God. Brotherly Kindness – A genuine love for other believers. Love – A compassion for the hurting and the lost. There you have it, straight from the Word of God. If we will be diligent to add these attributes to our salvation in Christ, we will truly get to know our Lord and Savior who purchased our salvation.

Sharing Your Faith Story

Philemon 1:6
…that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Once you are born again you have within you all that is good, because you have the very presence of God Himself residing in your spirit. To become effective in sharing your faith, acknowledge how good your God is. Don’t magnify the devil by focusing on and talking about what you may be facing in the natural; magnify the goodness of God within you by acknowledging all you have in Christ Jesus and what He has done for you. This is what walking by faith and not by sight is all about. When you walk by faith you do not look at what is seen or revealed to the senses, you look to the Word of God and stand in faith calling those things which do not exist as though they did. We don’t deny the natural realm, we just don’t magnify and focus our attention on it by talking about and confessing the problems. Instead we focus on the goodness of God by looking to God’s Word and magnifying and confessing the Word of God over our lives. This will change what you see in the natural and share your faith with those around you.

Strong In Grace

2 Timothy 2:1
You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

The grace we have in Christ is able to bring great strength to the believer. Grace is help from heaven, what God is able to do in and through your life. The Word of God says that He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Pride is a result of focusing on yourself, your own will and what you want. Those who are humble are focused on God and what His will is for them. Those who are humble remain teachable, and therefore are always looking to God and His Word to learn from Him how to live life. One who is teachable is saying what God’s Word says about them and their circumstances, and is doing what scripture teaches them in how to live their life. One who does so is going to be strong in the grace of God, walking in the ability God gives to us. So keep your focus on God and His Word speaking and acting upon what scripture teaches us, remain yielded unto His will and you will receive more grace (help from heaven).

Watch Your Words

2 Timothy 1:13
Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

Words are powerful. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. We are told in this verse to retain or in other words only speak sound words. Sound words are words filled with faith and love. Faith filled words are based on what God’s Word says. We should do as Jesus did, only speaking what you hear the Father say. You are walking in today what you have said in your yesterday’s for James chapter 3 teaches us that our words determine the path our life takes.

Words filled with fear, worry, doubt, and unbelief will produce exactly that. Speaking such things will not produce faith, for faith comes by hearing God’s Word, and you hear your words more than anything else. To change your words you must change what you hear for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So check up on what you have been saying. Fill up on the truth of God’s Word and you will change what you speak, and you will change your future to line up with the Word of God.

Walk In Faith & Love

1 Timothy 1:14
…and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.

When we are born again there are two very important elements that we find in our relationship with Jesus Christ. They are faith and love. Once born again we are given a measure of faith, and the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts. God gives us these two new elements so that we can begin to live a whole new way of life. We are to learn how to walk by faith and walk in the love of God. We are to take the measure of faith God gives us and continue to develop and use our new faith. Simply put, faith believes in and acts as if the Word of God is true. Walking by faith is walking by what God’s Word says and not what your circumstances say. Feeding on the Word is vital to your faith walk for this is how faith continues to come. But you must act upon the Word to walk by the faith you have been given. We are also to walk in love, treating others the way we want to be treated no matter how they treat us. This too requires action on our part based on the love of God that is now in our hearts and not acting upon our fleshly outer man. Faith is dependent on this love for faith works through love. Receiving Christ as your Lord means to receive a whole new way to live your life here on earth. A life of faith and love.

Set Your Mind On The Spirit

Romans 8:6
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

How you view things in this life determines whether you will walk in death or life. Death refers to that which came as a result of sin, and leads one to be separated from life, which refers to the God-kind of life. If we continue to live our lives with our minds governed by the way our flesh sees things and not God, we will not experience the God-kind of life He has for us here. Stop seeing things in this life from the world’s viewpoint, instead see what God sees. Man sees sickness, God sees healing. Man sees defeat, God sees victory. Man sees hopelessness, God sees hope fulfilled because He sees all things through what Christ has done for you. The more we take on the attitude of God through the promise of His Word, seeing things as God sees them, the more life and peace we will walk in.

Be Thankful

1 Thessalonians 5:18
…in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

God’s desire for us is to see His will manifested. A key to seeing God’s will manifested is in thanking Him for what He has done for us through Christ Jesus. Thanksgiving is a key to faith. To walk in God’s promises you must see what He has promised in His Word as already done for in the eyes of God everything you have in Christ is already an established fact. You are redeemed, you are not going to be. What God promised us in Christ was established 2000 years ago through His death, burial, resurrection and ascension. So to live a life of thanksgiving don’t focus on what you see in the natural, focus on what God’s Word has said, and start thanking Him for what He has already done for you through Christ Jesus. Those who are grateful (full of gratitude), will be faithful (full of faith).

Be A Wise Virgin

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

There is no doubt that Jesus will return to catch away those who are ready. Jesus said to watch and pray to be ready. He taught a parable of 10 virgins that relates to His return to catch away those who are ready. Five were wise and five were foolish. To become a virgin (pure) one must be born again. The wise virgins not only had their lamps lit (which represents one who is saved) but they also had an extra jar full of oil. The foolish had their lamps lit, but their jars were not full. This jar being full means they remained active in pursuing God and the things of God. The foolish were instead consuming their time with worldly things and not therefore actively pursuing God. These foolish virgins tried to get the wise virgins to give them some of their oil, but you can only get it through your relationship with God. The wise were ready for Christ’s return and went with Him when He came, but the foolish were left behind. Don’t be a foolish virgin who has accepted Christ but is not walking with God but instead chasing after the world. Jesus is coming soon.
