Reconciled By The Blood

Colossians 1:19-20

19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,

20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

The word reconcile means to change from one condition to another, to remove all enmity and leave no impediment to unity and peace. We have been reconciled unto God through Christ. We are a new creation on the inside and we are now one spirit with the Lord. When you accept the sacrifice of Christ by receiving Him as the Lord of your life the sin nature within that stood between you and God is completely removed, for you become a new creation in Christ. To walk in this unity with God we must learn to yield now to this new man on the inside, for the carnal nature of the fleshly man is still opposed to God; but when we choose to follow the new nature within we will walk in newness of life. This new life is a liberation from the old nature and it will lead you to walk in unity with God and all God has for you. Walk in the liberty you have been given by choosing to follow this new creation on the inside by learning to listen to this inward witness God has given to you, and you will experience life and that more abundantly that Jesus has provided for us.

Enriched In Him

1 Corinthians 1:5
…that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge,

All who are “in Christ” have had their lives enriched in every way. The word enriched means to make rich or to fully furnish. Once you are born again you have all you need because you have God. God Himself is living in you and therefore present with you everyday. Whatever you need knowledge of He is always there to reveal to you all that you need to know. You have access to God through His Spirit living in you, therefore you have access to all God is and all God has for you. You simply must learn to take the time to draw near to God within you and He will draw near to you. God will not intervene in your busy life. You must make time for Him. His Spirit bears witness with our spirit. So as you take time to get to know God and learn how to develop your spirit man you can tap into the riches that are in you now.

He Will Restore

1 Pet. 5:10
God, who shows you his kindness and who has called you through Christ Jesus to his eternal glory, will restore you, strengthen you, make you strong, and support you as you suffer for a little while.

No matter what challenges or difficulties we face or go through here on earth they are temporary and are as Paul called them “light afflictions” compared to God’s eternal glory that awaits us. In the midst of the challenges we face here on earth keep looking to Jesus, taking the time to wait on the Lord drawing near to Him for those who do their strength is renewed. In the midst of challenging situations maintain a heart of gratitude by thanking God for what He has done through Christ to give you the victory in every situation. As you look to Jesus, not what is in the natural, and keep thanking God for all He has done, He will strengthen you and bring you through any challenge you face.

The Spirit Man

1 Peter 2:5
…you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

One of the primary goals for the believer is to become spiritual (led by our spirit man, the real you), not carnal (led by our flesh). You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. Just as man has learned how to develop his body and his soul, you can develop your spirit man. This is what every believer should do, for when your spirit man is dominate, this new nature made in the image of God will control and direct you. To develop your spirit man you need to:

1. Meditate on the Word of God.

2. Practice the Word.

3. Give the Word first place.

4. Obey your conscience (the voice of your spirit).

5. Pray in the Spirit.

6. Walk in love.

Do these things and you will grow spiritually. As you do the old flesh nature will no longer rule you and you will be led by your spirit man.

Hope In God

1 Peter 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,…

Because of what Jesus did in restoring our relationship with God we now have a living hope, for our hope is in Him. Hope means a confident expectation of good. As a believer we should be living in hope every day. We do so by looking to hope past. The children of Israel had a promise given to them by God of good to come. A Messiah would come and deliver them from their sin. That expectation of God came to pass just as God had said. We can now live in hope present looking at all that scripture teaches us that Christ has fulfilled for us and therefore we can expect good to come to pass based on all that He has done. We can also live in hope to come as we know Jesus will return for His church and we will ever be with the Lord. All who are born again are no longer without hope for our God is that hope. Don’t live a hopeless life. Look to His Word and expect what He has said to come to pass in your life for God is good to all who call upon Him.

Sowing and Reaping

Philippians 4:19
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

The apostle Paul writing this letter inspired by the Holy Spirit to the church at Philippi in verse 15 of this same chapter had commended this group of believers for being the only church that consistently gave to help Paul preach the gospel. Because they had done so he makes this declaration that God would supply all their need. He knew this to be true for God had said in Genesis 8:22 as long as the earth remains this law will be at work in the earth, seedtime and harvest. Jesus Himself said if you give it shall be given unto you. God established this governing law in the earth as a way to take care of us. If you sow financially as scripture teaches you will reap, it is that simple. Jesus also said where you treasure is their your heart will be also. If you are grateful for the salvation Christ has given you, then you will freely give to the work of the gospel. In doing so you put your faith in God and you put the law of sowing and reaping into effect. When you do God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory.

Peace With God

Galatians 2:16
…nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

We were justified (given right standing with God) not by works, but through faith in Christ. Justified means God declares you righteous or right with Him. God sees you just as if you had never sinned for you are a new creation in Christ. As Romans 5:1 tells us, we having been justified by faith now have peace with God. The wrath that God has towards man because of sin is taken away in Christ Jesus. The devil will try to convince us that God is mad at us for things we have done trying to get us to pull away from God. Don’t fall for this lie. We choose to do what is right in God’s sight because of what He has done for us but If you do miss it as a believer don’t run from God, run to Him. You have been given peace with Him because of justification. Peace means harmony between God and man. God is not against us, He is for us. So don’t fall for the lie that God must be against you. Because of justification we NOW HAVE peace with God and He is for us because we are one with Him.

Reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:18
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,…

Through Jesus Christ we have been reconciled to God. Reconciled means to make an exchange. He took our sin and He gave us His righteousness. It is this righteousness (right standing with God) that gives us the right to all we have in Christ. We now have a ministry to go and reconcile others to God. In the verse that follows the above scripture it goes on to tell us that God was in Christ Jesus reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting their sins against them. To reconcile others to Christ we need to let people know that God has already dealt with their sins through the cross. It is not all their sins that is now separating them from God but in fact in John 16:8-9 Jesus tells us that there is one sin that is hindering man from receiving the reconciliation that God has provided and that is the sin of not putting their faith in Jesus Christ. In the eyes of God the world has been reconciled to Him for there is nothing more that He needs to do. They simply need to put their faith in Him. Time for the church to go and shine their light to those in darkness and let them know God is waiting on them.

Yes and Amen

2 Corinthians 1:18 -20

18 But as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.”

19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the one who was proclaimed among you by us – by me and Silvanus and Timothy – was not “Yes” and “No,” but it has always been “Yes” in him.

20 For every one of Godʼs promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.

These are three powerful verses. When Paul wrote this second letter to the Corinthian church they had been swayed by false teachers to no longer believe in Paul and what he had been preaching to them. They began to questions the “promises” (notice this is plural for there are many) of God that were now theirs through Christ Jesus. Paul affirms that they did not preach to them that some promises where yes and some no. ALL THE PROMISES OF GOD GIVEN IN CHRIST ARE YES! But take note of the key to partaking of those promises. We must speak the “Amen”. This is a very unique word that has been called the best known word in human speech because it has been used in just about every language. It’s original meaning comes from the Hebrew meaning – “To believe, so be it, may it be fulfilled”. You see for us to be recipients of the promises we have in Christ we must believe they are so and therefore fulfilled in our life thus giving our “Amen”. For those who do, they will never have to wonder if any promise of God in Christ is available to them for the answer is always “Yes”!

Bear Fruit For God

Romans 7:4
Likewise, my brethren, you have undergone death as to the Law through the [crucified] body of Christ, so that now you may belong to Another, to Him Who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God.

Once born again we now belong to God, we are not our own. Because we are His we should no longer look like, sound like, nor act like the world. We should bear godly fruit. You are in the world but no longer of the world. We don’t become born again to keep living the way we have always lived, but to now follow in the Lord’s example for our life. To do so we see in scripture that Jesus did not come to do His will, but the will of the Father who sent Him. Jesus said that He only did that which pleased the Father. We are to walk in His example no longer fulfilling our own will, but the Fathers will for us and in doing so we will bear fruit unto Him. Remember Who you belong to and always choose to walk in the will of the Father. You will be glad you did.
