Phil. 3:12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
The phrase “press on” is like a runner who does not quit even when they reach that point where they feel they can’t go on. Runners call it “hitting the wall”. But if you keep the finish line as your focus, you press on and get through those times when you wanted to quit. You must stop looking behind you. You must learn to forget the past to get to the prize God has provided for you in Christ Jesus. When you look back you hinder your progress of moving forward. Why look back, that is not where you are headed. The children of Israel who kept looking back to Egypt did not enter the promise land. Get your eyes off of the circumstances that surround you and your past. Make sure you have scripture to stand on and keep your eyes on what the Word of God says. Don’t stop believing, speaking, and acting on God’s Word. Christ has won the victory, now press on!
