Peace With God

Romans 5:1

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,…

Through Jesus we have been given peace with God. The word peace means to be one with, a state of harmony. Once born again we become one spirit with the Lord. As Jesus is so are we in this present age because we are one with Him. There is no war between you and God because you are one with Him. The devil does all he can to convince believers that God is mad at them so that they won’t draw near to God. But when Jesus bore our sin He also bore the punishment our sin deserved. The Word of God tells us we will not face the wrath of God to come. Scripture also teaches us that those who keep their minds fixed on God, not on the things around them, God will keep them in perfect peace for they trust in Him. When we know that we have peace with God and we walk in that peace by focusing our thoughts on Him, trusting in our God, peace will surround you. You won’t be depressed, fearful, and doubt your God. Peace will be present and therefore your faith will work for you leading you into a victorious life. So don’t run from Him, run to Him and focus your thoughts upon Him because He has given us peace.

John 3:17

“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Through Jesus Christ we have been saved. The word saved is defined as rescued, preserved, healed, restored, made well. All of this is a part of God’s salvation package. To receive what we have available to us we must by faith see these things as already done, for in the eyes of God they are. For example when someone today receives new life by accepting Jesus into their heart they become born again. But the moment they did so is not when salvation was provided by God, it was already available for 2,000 years ago Jesus gave His life for us. They just chose to receive what God said was already done. So it is with all we have in this salvation package. We must see it as already done and not something God is going to do and take it by faith. Take time to meditate on all you have been given in Christ until that Word get’s in you. Once it does faith becomes active and you can walk in what Christ has provided for you.

Our Teacher

1 John 2:27

But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

The Holy Spirit is the One who helps us to get revelation of the things of God in our heart. When revelation comes faith is there. It’s like walking into a dark room not being able to see the way out and then the Holy Spirit flips the light switch on. Once that happens you can see the way to go and act upon the Word of God. A vital key in receiving this revelation is in how we read and listen to the teaching of God’s Word. Whether reading or hearing the Word taught, you must first recognize it is God speaking to you. It is not man’s words but God’s, for all scripture is given by God. Secondly you must give your full attention to God’s Word and not become distracted with other things. Pay close attention to what you are hearing. Third you must learn to take verses that stand out to you and meditate on those verses consistently. Reading and hearing makes you aware of the Word, meditating on it is how you absorb God’s Word. Finally put what you know into practice for you deceive yourself if you are a hearer and not a doer of the Word. Put these truths into practice and His Word will become alive in you by the Holy Spirit.

Walk In The Light

1 John 1:5

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

Once born again we are children of the light. We are to walk in the light and let our light shine. The entrance of God’s Word gives light, for God and His Word are one. To walk in the light receive what His Word says about you. Every verse of scripture that refers to who you now are in Christ you should declare such verses everyday. Confession brings possession. Don’t talk about the old you for you are a new creation. Obey the Word of God. Let the Word be a lamp to your feet each day and a light to your path for your tomorrows. Obedience to the Word will keep you from living a deceived life of darkness. Don’t allow your feelings to rule you for if you do you will go the way of the flesh, which will lead you away from God’s Word. Choose also to walk in love. Treat others how you would want them to treat you. It is one of the hardest things to learn because our human nature is used to walking in darkness. The more you choose to walk in love, recognize who you are in Christ, and walk in obedience to the Word, you will be walking in the light of God, free from the darkness of this world.

Press On

Phil. 3:12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

If anyone in the days of the early church had times they may have felt like quitting and giving up it would have to be the apostle Paul, but he did not. Paul had the goal of fulfilling all that Christ had laid hold of for him as his focus. What often hinders us from pressing on is looking to or focusing on the past. In the very next verse Paul stated there was one thing he had learned, to forget what is behind and press toward the goal of what Christ has ahead. Far to often we tend to always look to our past instead of simply releasing it and letting go. If you are looking to your past you are not moving forward to the promise. Every promise we have been given through Christ Jesus for our life awaits us. We have to press on in faith to obtain those promises. The first generation of the children of Israel did not enter the promise land for they kept looking back to Egypt. They did not want to change their way of living to trust in God and do things God’s way and therefore they wandered in the wilderness even though their promise awaited. God got them out of Egypt but He could not get Egypt out of them. This is the problem with many believers today. They don’t want to change the way they live fully submitting to God’s way of doing things. If you want to walk in all God has for you then you must release the past, including your old ways of living, and you like Paul can press toward the goal of all God has for you.

A Sweet Fragrance

2 Corinthians 2:15

For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;…

Before salvation we had the smell of death, but in Christ we now have the fragrance of new life. This fragrance is the love of God. When you are born again that love is poured out into your heart, your new spirit man. Walking in God’s love is a choice we make every day. It is a choice to treat others the way that you would have them treat you, no matter how they treat you. When you are walking in love you are walking with God, for God is love. But when you choose not to walk in love you are not walking with God. This takes you out from under God’s protection and you can fall prey to the ways and the works of satan. But when you choose to walk in love you are not only protected from the works of darkness, you put off the fragrance of Christ, living as He lived. People will take notice because you do not look like nor act like the world. The Bible also teaches us that faith works through love. When you get out of love your faith will not work, so your faith depends on the love of God. As we walk in love we can draw others out of the smell of death and bring them into new life and a new way of living.

Connected To The Body

Ephesians 4:16

From Him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part.

It is from Christ Jesus that we are provided with His gifts that knit us together and strengthen us as a body. When we walk in gratitude for what Christ has done for us, we will desire to fulfill our role within the church body we are a part of. Finding our place in the body is of great importance. In using our gifts within the body we are helping to build the church in reaching more people and helping them to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. This is why every born again believer is to find their shepherd and get connected to a local church family. Not doing so makes us weaker and it hinders the body of Christ in fulfilling it’s purpose of reaching people with the gospel. If we are not connected to a local church body by finding our shepherd we are not fulfilling one of our primary purposes as the body of Christ. In fulfilling our part of the body it also helps us become stronger against the attacks of the enemy. Scripture teaches us that our enemy goes after stragglers, those who are isolated from the body of Christ, but when you become a part of a local church family you have others around you to help strengthen you for iron sharpens iron. Get connected by being involved with the local church body God has called you to. Be faithful to Jesus in doing your part, and it will bring growth to the body and bring a great strength to your life.

Boasting In The Cross

Galatians 6:14

But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

The believer in Christ has been crucified to the world. The word crucified here means: to destroy it’s power. By faith in the power of the cross of Christ, the world’s power over the believer has been broken. You are in the world, but no longer of the world for you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. To see this inward transformation now change us on the outside, we must do two things as stated in Romans 12:1-2. We must present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, set apart unto God. Our body was made to serve our spirit and soul. So we must daily choose to honor God by yielding our body in obedience to Him. Secondly we must renew our minds to the Word of God, to who we now are in Christ and what He has done for us through the cross so that we no longer conform to the world, but are transformed into this new man. Renewing the mind is not complete until one becomes a doer of the Word. This includes confessing who we now are in Christ, boasting in the cross and what Jesus has done for us. This is the greatest need in the body of Christ. Through a renewed mind we are set free from the worlds ways and we become living proof of the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

By Grace I Stand

Romans 5:2

…through whom (Christ) also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The grace we have through faith in Christ is defined as: A divine influence that leads to living a life following after the example of Christ. This divine influence called grace, which can also be defined as heavens help, is available to us through faith. If you want to stand fast in this divine influence of God to help you in this life we must choose to walk by faith. In the book of James chapter 2 verse 17 we are told faith without works (corresponding action) is dead, devoid of power. Our faith in Christ is not only seen in receiving Him, but then following after Him. This is what being a Christian (a Christ follower) is all about. Faith is not just praying a prayer, but surrendering our life unto the Lord. To call upon the name of the Lord means we make Him the Lord of our life. He is the One we look to and follow after. We are told to put on Christ. Putting on Christ is like putting on a parachute. If you just have a parachute but don’t put it on and jump from a plane it does you no good. When you put on Christ it is like putting on that parachute. You are putting your full trust in Him by adhering to and following after Him. As we walk by faith we are standing in the grace God has given to us through Christ Jesus.

Draw Near

Hebrews 10:19

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,…

Here we see the primary reason that Jesus shed His blood for us so that we could once again approach God unashamed and have fellowship with Him. The enmity that stood between God and man was removed by the blood Jesus shed for us. Once you are born again you now have complete access to the Father. Learning how to fellowship with God, you can develop an intimate relationship with Him, and He has everything you need. First we must learn how to read the Word of God. That may sound funny but if you don’t learn to give your undivided attention to God’s Word when you read it then all you will have is head knowledge. God will speak to you if you will listen. You must also sit under the teaching of God’s Word, but again you must listen with all your heart and not get distracted. Jesus said take heed how you hear. Finally you must develop in prayer where you learn to become quite and hear God speak to your spirit man. Those who do will find answers and a renewed strength from God. The door is open and your Heavenly Father awaits to fellowship with you. Take time to draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. You will be glad you did.
