Boasting In The Cross

Galatians 6:14

But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

The believer in Christ has been crucified to the world. The word crucified here means: to destroy it’s power. By faith in the power of the cross of Christ, the world’s power over the believer has been broken. You are in the world, but no longer of the world for you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. To see this inward transformation now change us on the outside, we must do two things as stated in Romans 12:1-2. We must present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, set apart unto God. Our body was made to serve our spirit and soul. So we must daily choose to honor God by yielding our body in obedience to Him. Secondly we must renew our minds to the Word of God, to who we now are in Christ and what He has done for us through the cross so that we no longer conform to the world, but are transformed into this new man. Renewing the mind is not complete until one becomes a doer of the Word. This includes confessing who we now are in Christ, boasting in the cross and what Jesus has done for us. This is the greatest need in the body of Christ. Through a renewed mind we are set free from the worlds ways and we become living proof of the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.

By Grace I Stand

Romans 5:2

…through whom (Christ) also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The grace we have through faith in Christ is defined as: A divine influence that leads to living a life following after the example of Christ. This divine influence called grace, which can also be defined as heavens help, is available to us through faith. If you want to stand fast in this divine influence of God to help you in this life we must choose to walk by faith. In the book of James chapter 2 verse 17 we are told faith without works (corresponding action) is dead, devoid of power. Our faith in Christ is not only seen in receiving Him, but then following after Him. This is what being a Christian (a Christ follower) is all about. Faith is not just praying a prayer, but surrendering our life unto the Lord. To call upon the name of the Lord means we make Him the Lord of our life. He is the One we look to and follow after. We are told to put on Christ. Putting on Christ is like putting on a parachute. If you just have a parachute but don’t put it on and jump from a plane it does you no good. When you put on Christ it is like putting on that parachute. You are putting your full trust in Him by adhering to and following after Him. As we walk by faith we are standing in the grace God has given to us through Christ Jesus.

Draw Near

Hebrews 10:19

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,…

Here we see the primary reason that Jesus shed His blood for us so that we could once again approach God unashamed and have fellowship with Him. The enmity that stood between God and man was removed by the blood Jesus shed for us. Once you are born again you now have complete access to the Father. Learning how to fellowship with God, you can develop an intimate relationship with Him, and He has everything you need. First we must learn how to read the Word of God. That may sound funny but if you don’t learn to give your undivided attention to God’s Word when you read it then all you will have is head knowledge. God will speak to you if you will listen. You must also sit under the teaching of God’s Word, but again you must listen with all your heart and not get distracted. Jesus said take heed how you hear. Finally you must develop in prayer where you learn to become quite and hear God speak to your spirit man. Those who do will find answers and a renewed strength from God. The door is open and your Heavenly Father awaits to fellowship with you. Take time to draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. You will be glad you did.

Led By The Spirit

Hebrews 9:14

…how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

When we are born again our spirit man is made new and scripture reveals that our conscience was cleansed, for our conscience is the voice of our spirit man, the real you on the inside. The Bible teaches us that God will lead us by His Spirit helping us to make right choices in life and He does this by bearing witness with our spirit. As we develop spiritually we can begin to learn the difference between our soul (mind, will, and emotions) and our spirit man. The more we do the easier it becomes to be led by God listening to our conscience. If you abide in the Word of God you can learn when your conscience is leading you because when the Holy Spirit guides you through this inward witness it will always be in line with God’s Word. This witness with your conscience will come as an inward knowing, a peace within, or what some call a green light when God is leading you in a certain direction. When you are headed the wrong direction there will be a feeling of unrest or an inward knowing to stop, which will seem like a red light. So live in the Word of God and learn to hear and follow the voice of your spirit man, your conscience, and you can follow God’s plan for your life.

Let The Redeemed Say So

Hebrews 9:12

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

By the blood of Jesus we have obtained His eternal redemption. Redemption means to be liberated from bondage. We have been redeemed from spiritual death, sickness and disease, poverty and lack. Redemption from spiritual death not only means that we have been liberated from the old sin nature and made a new creation, but we have also been liberated from identifying with that old nature. Our identity (where we find our value and worth) no longer comes from the world but from God. So don’t devalue yourself for you are children of the most high God. We are redeemed from all sickness and disease, for by the stripes of Jesus we were healed. Jesus has paid the price for our healing. We have also been liberated from poverty and lack because once you are born again you are an heir of God and a joint heir with Jesus. God supplies all our need. Psalm 107:2 tells us the redeemed of the Lord are to say so. Daily confess you have been redeemed (liberated) from spiritual death, sickness and disease, poverty and lack, for confession brings possession.

Our Hope & Faith Is In God

1 Peter 1:21

Through Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are [centered and rest] in God.

Because of what Jesus did to reunite our relationship with God we should now rest our hope and our faith in Him. Hope is where we start for hope is a confident expectation of good. When we find out through the Word of God of His promises He has for us, those promises give us hope. That becomes our goal for we now know what God has provided for us. This is where faith comes in for faith then gives substance to what we hope for. Faith takes the place of hope and it is by faith we obtain God’s promises. Faith is based on God’s Word and comes by hearing the Word of God proclaimed. We need to take God’s Word and proclaim those promises as already ours to build our faith. As we do scripture teaches us to no longer look at what is seen in the natural, but to look to what is not yet seen manifest, the Word of God. As we continue to walk by faith, calling those things which be not as though they were just as God Himself does (Romans 4:17), we will see those promises come to pass. This is how we keep our hope and faith centered in God.

Offer Thanks Always

Hebrews 13:15

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Thanksgiving should be a part of the believers life everyday. Notice it says in this verse we are to continually offer thanks, even as a sacrifice of praise. It’s easy to thank God when things are going your way, but what about when you are facing difficult circumstances. It is in those times you need to thank God the most, when you don’t feel like giving thanks. As scripture teaches us we walk by faith not by sight. Colossians 4:2 tells us we are to be vigilant in prayer with thanksgiving. We don’t thank God for the difficult circumstances, but for what He has done to help us overcome them. In all things, in every situation of life, we are to be thanking God for what He has done for us through Christ Jesus. When believers lose their heart of gratitude they become bitter not better, and this will only rob you of what God has for your life. Don’t allow the enemy and circumstances in life to take from you the gratitude we should have for God. Continually thank God for what He has done for you through Christ Jesus, and you will see God bring you through to victory.
