One With The Word

John 15:7

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

This is one of the most powerful truths in the Bible. Think about what Jesus said here. To abide means to remain one with. We abide in Jesus or become and remain one with Him when we become born again. If we do not deny Christ we remain one with Him. But His Word must also abide in us, or remain one with us. Another way to say this is the Word of Christ must prevail over us. God’s Word is a prevailing force in the earth for His Word created everything, therefore everything is subject to His Word. When His Word prevails over us then what we speak is the Word of God, which will come to pass. For His Word to abide in us we must have our minds renewed to the Word of God. This is more than just head knowledge of the Word. It must prevail over our thought life so that we think like God’s Word, but a mind is not fully renewed until it has transformed how we live. His Word must also prevail over our actions as well. When God’s Word is prevailing over our thoughts and we now see ourselves in Christ as a new creation, and that Word prevails over our actions as well, then His Word will prevail through us for there is nothing more powerful than the Word of God. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will never pass away. Remain one with Jesus and let His Word prevail over you, becoming one with that Word, and you shall ask what you desire and it shall be done through the prevailing Word of God.

Abide In Him

John 15:4

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

To abide in Christ means to remain as one with Him. We are to bear the fruit of Christ, walking in the example He has given us. In Matthew 16:24 Jesus said if anyone desires to come after Him, to become a follower of Christ, which would be the same as abiding in Him, we must deny self, take up our cross and follow Him. For years I spent most of my time teaching people to deny self and take up their cross, but I missed the most important part. Do you have a desire to follow after Jesus? Without that desire you won’t deny self nor take up your cross. The word “desire” means to be resolved or determined to fulfill a purpose, to delight in. If you want to abide in Christ you must have a determined purpose to follow Christ. It is what you take delight in, meaning you have this resolve with a “want to” attitude, not a “have to” attitude. That desire will help you deny self, the old nature when it becomes difficult to do so. That desire will cause you to take up your cross, to fulfill God’s will for your life when the old fleshly nature wants to do something else instead. Cultivate a desire in your heart to abide in Jesus and you will bear much fruit (become Christ-like).

Discern The Lord’s Body

John 6:56

“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

When we receive communion we are reminded of the Lord’s body and the blood that was given for us. Scripture teaches us that if we do not rightly discern the Lord’s body that this is the reason why many are weak, sick, and some die early. We discern the Lord’s body three ways:

1. Acknowledge the stripes of Jesus that paid for your bodily healing. With the stripes that wounded Him, we are healed and made whole.

2. Do not speak evil of other believers for they are a part of the body. If we slander and gossip about other believers, we speaking harm to ourselves. We are to walk in the love of God toward one another therefore not speaking evil of others.

3. Recognize who you are in Christ Jesus and do not belittle yourself for you are His body whom He has purchased. When we do not recognize who we are in Christ, we will be hindered in receiving what we have in Christ. We must come to know who we are to partake of what we have been given through His blood that was shed for us.

So if we want to walk in health and healing we must learn to discern the Lord’s body. When we do we can experience the benefit of what Jesus purchased for us through the blood He shed, and through the body that He gave for us as He not only bore our sins, but He bore our sickness, disease, pain and suffering also. Receive what He has provided for you.

The Way, The Truth, the Life

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Jesus is the way to the Father. It is only through Him that we can be reconciled to God. He is also the way Maker. He can make a way when them seems to be no way. If we look to Him, the author and finisher of our faith, He will provide a way for us. Jesus is the truth, the living Word of God. In John 17:17 Jesus tells us the Word of God is truth. The Bible does not define the Word as true, but truth. That is because in the natural we will be faced with things that are true. It may be true that our bodies could be dealing with some type of disease or sickness. It may be true that we could be facing a financial challenge or dealing with what may seem like overwhelming odds against us, but the truth can change what is true. If we will simply believe the truth then we can see what may be true changed by the truth. Jesus is life itself. One will never experience true life, a life filled with the goodness of God by choosing to chase what they want, do things their way. Jesus said if you lose your life then you will find true life, but if you do not lay down you life you will lose the life He offers. All you need is found in Jesus who is the way, the truth, and the life.

Win The Battle of The Mind

2 Corinthians 10:5

5 Putting an end to reasonings, and every high thing which is lifted up against the knowledge of God, and causing every thought to come under the authority of Christ;

What determines whether we walk in victory or defeat? It does not matter what area of your life you may be dealing with, it is our thoughts that will determine our outcome. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. If you accept thoughts of disease, sickness, lack, defeat, that is what you will get. If satan can hold you in the realm of reason, accepting all that is revealed to you in the natural, he will win every time. But if you hold him in the arena of faith, you will win every time. To do so you must put an end to reasonings contrary to God’s Word, and you must bring every thought into obedience to the Word of God. Difficult to do if you do not live in God’s Word. Victory or defeat is up to us. We can accept the status quo, or we can believe God’s Word. The choice is ours. Can I get any amens!

Raised Up With Christ

Colossians 3:1

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

All who are in Christ should change their focus in life. We should get our focus off of the natural world and get focused on the realm of the spirit, putting our focus on God and the things of the spirit. Looking to God’s Word helps us change this view of life. Doing so will help us to see things from God’s perspective. The key to getting this new view on life is to just accept God’s Word and don’t try to reason it out with your mind. God’s Word is truth. The Bible does not say God’s Word is true, but truth. You may see things in the natural that are true, but God’s truth can change what is true in the natural if you just don’t question the Word of God. When you come to God’s Word you should say, “If God’s Word says it, I believe it, and that settles it.” So look to the Word and start seeing things from your new position in Christ, seated with Him at the right hand of God.

He Tasted Death For Us

Colossians 2:13

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,…

One who is in Christ no longer resides in death (separation from God) for Jesus has forgiven us of our sin by becoming sin for us (removing what stood between us and God). We have been made alive together with Jesus Christ. You are one spirit with Him. God told Adam if he sinned he would die. Before Adam sinned all that God had made was good. After he sinned evil entered into the world through the death that came from man’s sin. Death (all that is not good) reigned in the earth and over man. Jesus has tasted death for all so that man could be restored to life by our union with Him, and now by faith in Christ reign in this life over death and all the evil that came as a result of that death. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Remove the taste of death from your mouth by speaking words of life, declaring what you now have in Christ. As a child of God death no longer has dominion over you. See yourself as one with Christ, victorious over death and all the evil that came as a result of that death, for you have been delivered from death and have been made alive with Christ. Death and evil no longer have dominion over you.
