How To Find Wisdom and Knowledge

Colossians 2:3

God has hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ.

All the wisdom and all the knowledge we need is found in our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Word made flesh, and through the Word of God we can get this wisdom and knowledge. When we lack knowledge we lack the ability to know what God knows about something. Lacking knowledge means we are ignorant, not knowing what God says about a matter. We can go to God’s Word and find out exactly what He has to say about any subject. But knowledge of what God desires for us or wants us to know is not enough. Wisdom teaches us how to walk in the knowledge we have. For example, knowledge of God’s Word teaches us that He desires to provide all our need. Wisdom teaches us how He does that. Scripture tells us as we give it shall be given to us. To walk in wisdom requires a reverence for the Lord. If you reverence Him you will walk in the wisdom He reveals. If you don’t you will keep doing things your way. If you want to walk in God’s will for your life go to the Word, get knowledge and wisdom applied to your life, and you can walk in His will for you.

Redeemed and Righteous

Colossians 1:14

In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of our sins.

The sin that stood between man and God has been washed away in Christ Jesus. Praise the Lord for His redeeming blood! He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. This righteousness or right standing with God is a free gift. You cannot earn God’s righteousness. Christians who are “trying” to get right with God are facing a losing battle, for once you are born again you have His righteousness and are therefore right with God. It is through this free gift of righteousness given to us that we have the right to all that Christ has provided for us. The devil will try to convince you that you are not right with God. Revelation 12:11 tells us we overcome him by the blood of the Lamb (walking in the reality of our righteousness), by the word of our testimony (confessing who you are in Christ and what you therefore have a right to), and we do not love our lives to the death (we now live for God, not for ourselves). So don’t try to get right with God, you already are. Walk in the reality of that truth and you can walk in your righteousness and what you have a right to.

Come Boldly

Ephesians 3:12

In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

Through Christ we now once again can approach God without fear. Our Father has provided for us the privilege of fellowship with Him. It is the very reason why Christ died. When Adam sinned his fellowship with God was broken and he became estranged from God. This brought a fear in the heart of man in approaching God for after Adam sinned he hid himself from God. Once we are born again we no longer need to live fearful of approaching our heavenly Father. The sin that separated us is gone and we can now approach God with complete confidence. So as a believer we should daily draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. Don’t ever run from God, run to Him. If you have sinned repent, and run back to the Father for He awaits with arms open wide to help you get back on your feet again. It is the devil who tries to keep us from approaching God by making us afraid to do so through wrong thoughts. Scripture teaches us to come boldly to the throne of grace, to find grace and help in our time of need. God is waiting to help us overcome whatever we may be dealing with in life, but we must draw near to Him to get that help. The door is open so take the time to draw near to Him. You will be glad you did.

A Temple Unto God

Ephesians 2:21

In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord].

In Christ we are a part of a growing holy temple in the Lord. We are to be dedicated, and consecrated (set apart) unto God. We are in the world but no longer of the world, we are the light that now shines in the darkness. Every born again believer should be living a life dedicated to the Lord. You don’t become born again to remain the same as you were before. Receiving Christ means you also receive a new life and therefore a new lifestyle. But for that to happen we must renew our mind’s to God’s Word so we can come to know the new you. We must also make God’s priorities our priorities, choose His will over our own will, and line our life up with the Word of God. To live a changed life, one separated and dedicated unto the Lord, you have to change how you see life and how you live it. You will be glad you did.

Our Helper The Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:13

And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.

When we receive Christ we receive the Holy Spirit to come and live in us. One of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit is to be our guide, leading us in the will of God for our life. He leads us by bearing witness with our spirit. Believers often look for guidance every other way instead of the way God said it would come. God does not guide us through outward circumstances, but through His Word, and through the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:16 tells us that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit, the inner man, the real you, for you are a spirit who has a soul and lives in a body. Jesus said that we would have a Helper in the Holy Spirit and the way we would know if we are going in the right direction or not would be revealed by a peace within or a lack of peace. When we are making decisions in line with His will there will be this inner peace that lets us know we are going the right way. But when we miss it with God then we will have an agitation or a check in our spirit which reveals we are not in the will of God. The Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of truth. We know when we are being led by the Holy Spirit it will always be in line with His Word for God’s Word is truth. So learn to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit who has been sent to guide you in this life and you can walk in God’s plan for you.

We Have An Inheiritance

Ephesians 1:11

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, …

Every child of God has obtained an inheritance. We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus. The children of Israel were given an inheritance in the promise land but they had to go in and possess that inheritance, even though it was already theirs. They did not enter into that promise land because of unbelief. You possess your inheritance living by faith, believing in God’s Word, speaking in line with God’s Word, and acting as if God’s Word is true because it is. You begin by developing faith in your inheritance. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So you must hear what God’s Word has to say about your inheritance. As you do you gain knowledge of what is rightfully yours. Faith is present tense for Hebrews 11:1 says now faith is. Faith is not past tense, nor future tense, but present tense. When someone says I believe God will heal me that is not faith for that is future tense. God’s Word says by His strips you are healed, so you must believe it is so. This is where confession comes in. Romans 4:17 says that God calls those things which be not as though they were. Once you have faith from God’s Word as to what is yours, you imitate your heavenly Father by saying what God’s Word says, not what your circumstances say. This is where action comes in. 2 Corinthians 4:18 tells us we do not look at the things that are seen, but at what is not seen. Faith does not deny the existence of a problem, it just does not focus on the problem but instead focuses on what God’s Word says for this is the source of our faith. All who are born again have an inheritance awaiting them, all they have to do is posses it by faith.

We Have Redemption

Ephesians 1:7

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace …

Through Christ we are redeemed through the blood He shed. Redemption means liberation by the procurement of a ransom. There are three primary things we have been redeemed or liberated from. The first is spiritual death. Spiritual death means to be separated from God, who is life itself. Being separated from God man no longer found his identity in the Creator, but in creation itself. But now redeemed we are reunited with our Father and therefore our worth should be found in Him and nothing else. We have also been redeemed from sickness and disease. Jesus did not just bear our sins and the punishment our sin deserved, He also bore our sickness for by His stripes we are healed. He also redeemed us from poverty for 2 Corinthians 8:9 declares that He became poor that we might be made rich. Rich means to have more than enough. God wants us to help others in need but we can’t do that if we are poor. Scripture teaches us that the redeemed of the Lord should say so. This is one of the most important keys to walking in our redemption. You need to start declaring who you are in Christ (which is where your identity is found), and what you have in Christ. According to God’s Word you are healed and you are blessed. Life and death is in the power of the tongue, so let the redeemed of the Lord start declaring their liberty by agreeing with God’s Word, proclaiming who you are and what you have in Him.
