2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
There is an absolute in life that will always keep us from being led astray and it is the very thing that completes us, equipping us with what we need for every good work, it is the Word of God. Sad to say many believers are trying to rewrite the Bible to fit their wants and desires, whether it be to live in sin, or to chase after an experience that is not seen in the life of Jesus, His disciples, nor anyone who walked with God. The enemy works at tempting us with what we desire so that he can lead us away from the only thing that will bring true freedom, the Truth! The whole of scripture provides us with sound doctrine so that we do not follow these deceptive paths. It will bring reproof, described as a revealing of wrongdoing. If we receive this reproof it will lead to instruction on how to correct the wrong, and this will result with instructions on doing what is right in the sight of God, not in the sight of man. To not be deceived in either changing scripture to fit your lifestyle, or going beyond the Word into false signs and wonders, James 1:21 tells us we must receive the Word with humility. Simply put we stick with the Word of God. God will confirm His Word with signs following. The signs following will be what is found in His Word. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, so we certainly need to learn to yield unto Him, but He is the Spirit of Truth and will only guide us in line with the Truth as Jesus said in John 16:13. If you want to walk in true liberty don’t change the Bible nor follow those who have to fit their lifestyle and think it’s ok. Don’t believe in and follow signs and wonders that are not a result of God confirming what is found in the Word, for we are warned there will be many false signs and wonders in the last days. I can still here the voice of one of my spiritual fathers who is now in heaven as he said many times, “Stick with the Book”. Thank you Dr. Sutton for that simple biblical truth that we all need to follow.
