Walk By Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7

Indeed, our lives are guided by faith, not by sight.

Are you walking by faith, or are you walking by sight? Walking by sight means our decisions in life are determined by our senses, or in other words what feels good to us, what our flesh wants, or what we see. To fulfill God’s plan for your life one must learn to walk by faith, not by the senses. The devil knows this all to well and this is why he will do all he can to get us to try and take the easy way out every time.

When you know what God’s will is for your life based on His Word and what you know your heart is telling you in line with the Word, faith must be exercised. Faith believes in the heart, speaks with the mouth, and acts in line with God’s Word. Take the apostle Paul as an example. Paul knew he was to preach the gospel and yet Paul faced all kinds of opposition doing so. Paul didn’t take the easy way out but stuck with his calling to the end. He was beaten with rods, whipped, stoned, jailed, etc, and Paul called them light afflictions. He did so because he walked by faith not by sight.

Many just want to “be happy” from a natural standpoint. I don’t think in the natural view of life those things Paul went through would have been a “happy day”, but Paul knew a joy that could not be shaken because he knew he was obeying the will of God, and that is what faith is all about, being obedient to where and what God has called you to do.

When you get beyond allowing the devil to convince you to take the easy way out and you stand your ground in faith you overcome. 1 John 5:4 says this is what gives us the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. Faith isn’t about living a trouble free life, but overcoming life’s challenges. Are you walking by faith or by sight? Walking by faith is how we fulfill God’s will and reign in life through Christ Jesus.
