Sanctification / Consecration

1 Corinthians 1:2

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus,…

The real you, the spirit man on the inside has been sanctified in Christ. The word sanctified means to be set apart and dedicated unto God. Sanctification of our spirit man was God’s part, now we respond by the consecration of our soul and bodies. Jesus in praying for His disciples said in John 17 that we would be in the world but not of the world. In His prayer He prayed we would be sanctified by God’s truth, for His Word is truth.

Once born again we don’t have to live in the ways of the world nor should we. We can live a life set apart from fear, worry, doubt, sin, sickness, etc. All these things are in the world and are true, but there is Truth that reveals we have been set apart from all of that, God’s Word.

Many today are being taught that they don’t need to do anything to consecrate themselves, but that is not what scripture teaches. Take a look at the following scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:1 – Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Notice we are told to cleanse ourselves. This is something we must do once we are saved. We are to cleanse our life from all filthiness of flesh and spirit. The fleshly part deals with the sins of the flesh. The spiritual part deals with things that are harmful to you spiritually, such as false teachings and just wanting your ears tickled. Don’t fall for the “feel good” preachers who won’t teach you how to get free from the old nature. When you know the full Truth of God’s Word, the Truth sets you free.

If we will learn from the Word who we now are in Christ and become doers of the Word and not just hearers only, we will be set apart by the Truth. Become one with the Word of God by hearing and doing the Truth, and you will live a sanctified and consecrated life, set apart from the world.

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – PART 17

https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-4s3xm-b63b4c

Scripture teaches us that we are not to be ignorant about the gifts of the Spirit. This refers to not only lacking understanding about them but includes ignoring the gifts. God wants us to fully understand these gifts so we can see Him impact our world through us.

One Body With Christ

Romans 12:5

so we, being many, are one body in Christ…

The key here is “one body in Christ”. Jesus is the head, we are the body. Whatever is true of the head is true of the body. When you look at a person you don’t look at their head and body as separate, and so it is with us for we are one with Christ. We are in Him and therefore we have become one spirit with the Lord. As He is so are we in this present world.

See yourself as one with Christ. Everything Jesus is we have become. We are more than conquerors because He is more than a conqueror. We are to rule and reign upon this earth as earth warriors, trampling upon all the powers of darkness, knowing the works of evil are no match for us because they are no match for Him.

We can come boldly to the throne of God’s grace and never be afraid to approach our Heavenly Father just as Jesus would never be afraid to do so. Who Jesus is we have become because we have been made one with Him. When we walk in this reality by faith in our hearts, we can walk as Jesus walked in this life.

Worry Is A Faith Robber

Philippians 4:6

Don’t worry about anything; on the contrary, make your requests known to God by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.

The beginning of worry is the end of faith. The beginning of faith is the end of worry. Worry is never good for your life, but a lot of believers do not realize that where worry exists in one’s life, faith does not. Worry is without a doubt one of the biggest faith robbers there is. Faith and worry are like water and oil, they do not mix. How do you get rid of worry? Walking by faith.

It is not possible to believe in what God has said or promised, and to worry at the same time. If you know what God has said is true, then why would you worry. If for example you truly believe that God will supply all your need, then why would you worry about getting your bills paid or needs met. If you believe God’s Word on healing, knowing you are already healed by the stripes of Jesus, how could you worry about sickness or disease if you truly believe He bore all your sickness and disease.

If you look at the above verse you will see this proven. As Paul states do not worry, on the contrary, make your requests known to God with thanksgiving. This is a prayer spoken in faith believing it has received, for you don’t give thanks unless you have already received something. So if you have any worry in your life, that indicates you need to develop your faith more by feeding on what God’s Word says until it becomes a reality in your heart. The beginning of faith is the end of worry, and the end of a defeated life.

Knowing Right From Wrong

Hebrews 5:13-14

13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right.

14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

One of the most important things for a believer is the ability to recognize the difference between right and wrong. What a difference this would make in their lives and in the church as a whole. Without this ability it is unfortunately relatively easy for the enemy to mislead and take advantage of peoples lives, and yet they will think they are justified in the actions they take.

For one to have this skill they must have gone from the milk of the Word to solid food or the meat of the Word. This is where the challenge comes. Paul gives us some great insight into this process in writing to the Corinthian church. Take a look with me.

1 Corinthians 3:2-3

2 I gave you milk to drink. I didn’t give you solid food because you weren’t ready for it. Even now you aren’t ready for it

3 because you’re still influenced by your corrupt nature.

For a believer to get beyond milk and onto solid food they must be able to receive correction from the Word of God. Those who cannot are still more influenced by their old corrupt nature, their feelings and emotions. One is not ready for solid food if they are easily offended by correction through scripture. If they are not humble enough to receive such correction and be submissive to the Word of God, they will only be able to be fed what they want to hear that they like and agree with, the milk of the Word.

Solid food believers do not get offended by correction from the Word and therefore as they grow they become spirit dominated instead of allowing their flesh to dominate them. You must be willing to receive and apply correction to your life to receive the meat of the Word, and be able to recognize the difference between good and evil.

Faith Is The Door

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

You often hear of this verse referring to sinners, but this statement was made to John in the letters Jesus had written to the churches, so it includes everyone. When you think of all the Jesus represents to us such as our healer, provider, victor, protector, deliverer, prince of peace, love itself, and so much more, if we want to experience all that He is we simply have to open the door. How do we open the door?

Faith is that door. You often hear people for example say that their faith healed them, but faith is not the healer, Jesus is the healer. They may say their faith is what delivered them, but faith is not the deliverer, Jesus is the deliverer. You see if we think our faith will heal us we leave out the Healer Himself and don’t realize faith is simply the door through which, when we open that door, the Healer will come in and share His healing power with us.

Smith Wiggelsworth, a man used mightily by God said, “Faith is just the open door through which the Lord comes. Do not say,

“I was healed by faith.” Faith does not save. God saves through that open door. Healing comes the same way. You believe, and the healing comes the same way. You believe, and the virtue of Christ comes. Healing is for the glory of God.” When we say our faith is the “what” of how we got healed or set free we take out the One who did the work who receives all the glory. Faith is needed for it is the door that opens the way for the Lord to come, but He is the One who does the work.

We Have Been Liberated

Romans 3:24

being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;

In Christ we have justification given to us as a gift. You don’t earn a gift you simply receive it. Justified means you have been “Declared Righteous” (made right with God). This was all made possible through the redeeming work of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Redemption refers to an exchange, or a release, provided by the payment of a ransom.

For example in a movie where someone is taken captive by evil men, they may require a ransom to be given for the release of the one they have taken captive. Through the fall of Adam, sin has taken mankind captive and held them in bondage to it’s destructive ways. Jesus came as our payment, our ransom to deliver us from sin and it’s destructive ways. We could not free ourselves, but He had the power to free us.

Jesus died and went into hell paying the ransom for our deliverance. For all who receive Him, they can now be free from the power of sin and darkness. He did not die so that we could claim to be like Him and yet choose to live with sin. He died so that we in accepting His payment for us could choose to walk away from sin, being liberated from that old sin nature, and now live for and with God because we have been given right standing with Him. Choose to walk in the liberty you have been given by walking with God, not with the world from whom Jesus paid the price to liberate you from.
