All The Knowledge and Wisdom You Need

Colossians 2:3

God has hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ.

All the wisdom and all the knowledge we need is found in our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Word made flesh, and through the Word of God we can get this wisdom and knowledge. When we lack knowledge we lack the ability to know what God knows about something, not knowing what God says about a matter.

We can go to God’s Word and find out exactly what He has to say about any subject. But knowledge of what God desires for us or wants us to know is not enough. Wisdom teaches us how to walk in the knowledge we have. For example, knowledge of God’s Word teaches us that He desires to provide all our need. Wisdom teaches us how He does that.

Scripture tells us as we give it shall be given to us for this is God’s established law revealed throughout scripture of sowing and reaping. To walk in wisdom requires a reverence for the Lord. If you reverence Him you will walk in the wisdom He reveals. If you don’t you will keep doing things your way. If you want to walk in God’s will for your life go to the Word, get knowledge and get wisdom applied to your life, and you can walk in His will for you.

We Have Right Standing With God

Colossians 1:14

In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of our sins.

The sin that stood between man and God has been washed away in Christ Jesus. Praise the Lord for His redeeming blood! He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. This righteousness or right standing with God is a free gift. You cannot earn God’s righteousness.

Christians who are “trying” to get right with God are facing a losing battle, for once you are born again you have His righteousness and are therefore right with God. It is through this free gift of righteousness given to us that we have the right to all that Christ has provided for us. The devil will try to convince you that you are not right with God.

Revelation 12:11 tells us we overcome him by the blood of the Lamb (walking in the reality of our righteousness), by the word of our testimony (confessing who you are in Christ and what you therefore have a right to), and we do not love our lives to the death (we now live for God, not for ourselves). So don’t try to get right with God, you already are. Walk in the reality of that truth and you can walk in what you have a right to.

Come Boldly

Ephesians 3:12

In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

Through Christ we now once again can approach God without fear. Our Father has provided for us the privilege of fellowship with Him. It is the very reason why Christ died. When Adam sinned his fellowship with God was broken and he became estranged from God. This brought a fear in the heart of man in approaching God for after Adam sinned he hid himself from God.

Because of what Christ did in bearing our sin and the punishment of our sin, we no longer need to live fearful of approaching our heavenly Father. The sin that separated us is gone and we can now approach God with complete confidence. So as a believer we should daily draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. Don’t ever run from God, run to Him. If you have sinned repent, and run back to the Father for He awaits with arms open wide to help you get back on your feet again.

It is the devil who tries to keep us from approaching God by making us afraid to do so through wrong thoughts. Scripture teaches us to come boldly to the throne of grace, to find grace and help in our time of need. God is waiting to help us overcome whatever we may be dealing with in life, but we must draw near to Him to get that help. The door is open so don’t ever run from Him. He is your answer, He is your deliverer, He wants to help you; and most importantly He wants you to know Him.

Four Stages of Christian Growth

Ephesians 2:21

In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord].

In Christ we are a part of a growing holy temple in the Lord. We are to be dedicated, and consecrated (set apart) unto God. We are in the world but no longer of the world, we are the light that now shines in the darkness. Every born again believer should be living a life dedicated to the Lord. You don’t become born again to remain the same as you were before. Receiving Christ you also receive a new life and therefore a new lifestyle. To be a “Christian” means we are following after Christ Himself, walking in His example. There are four growth stages for the believer just as there are growth stages in the natural.

When you begin your walk with Christ you are born again and start the first stage which the Bible calls a convert in Christ. You begin to convert from the basic old ways of living to a new way of living. Your language and activities begin to change as you begin to look to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith. As you continue your walk with God you become a living letter known as an epistle, read by all men. You start looking like the letters written to the New Testament church as you learn who you now are in Christ.

Next as you continue growing in God you become a disciple in Christ. One who is disciplined in their walk of faith of which Jesus said a sign you are His disciple is that you now are walking in the love of God toward others. Finally you mature into the ministry stage God has for you, which means you develop into your primary calling of God to serve Him. This does not mean you will necessarily be one who works full time in ministry, but you will serve Him with confidence in His calling for your life. We were born again to be set apart and grow up in God. Find a good pastor and you can develop into the mature believer God has called you to be.

God Confirms The Word Preached

Mark 16:20

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

One of the things that is clearly missing in the church today in America especially is the signs, wonders, and miracles of God. Why? Why do we see so few mighty works of God throughout so many churches across our land? There are several reasons why. First of all there are many churches who want nothing to do with the work of the Holy Spirit. They don’t teach on nor have anything to do with the gifts of the Spirit nor the power of the Holy Spirit. Any church that denies the work of the Holy Spirit is not a church following in the footsteps of Jesus, for He said if you believe on Him the works He did we would do also.

There is another reason why. Notice in the above verse we are told that as the disciples went out preaching the Word and the Lord confirmed that Word with signs following. Not only do we have a lack of teaching on the whole of scripture as I mentioned above, but a lack of teaching all together. How does faith come for God to do these works? By hearing the Word of God preached. Take a look at the average church today and the body of Christ. Many believers do not go to church at all, and many others are content with going occasionally. If God confirms His Word with signs following and many believers only attend occasionally if at all, what is He going to confirm in their life?

Most churches today only have a Sunday morning service, no Sunday night or midweek service. They cater to the people who are to busy doing other things, and then we wonder why we don’t see God’s mighty works? He doesn’t have what He needs to work, the Word being preached more than once a week. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the less Word preached, the less working of God. We don’t need less church, we need more. The early church met daily with the disciples hearing the Word preached. As long as believers are satisfied with little to no church, they will see little to no power of God working in their midst.

Get Rid of Your Opinion

Isaiah 55:8

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

Jesus said in Mark 11:24 when you pray believe in your heart you receive what you have asked for and you shall have it. To do so you must get God’s Word settled in your heart that it is the truth, even when things around you may look contrary. What many believers do not realize is that when they choose to live by their own opinion of the Word of God, this will hinder their ability to get God’s Word settled in their hearts.

God’s thoughts are not the same as ours, and if you want to walk by faith you will have to change your thoughts to think like God. But when we choose to have our own opinion about things in the Bible that are clearly stated, this will also hinder us in taking God at His Word concerning His promises, for a little leaven will leaven the whole lump. As a believer you are not to have your own opinion about the Word, following after your thoughts instead of what God says. To choose your own opinion, living they way you want to, is going to rob your faith.

When you become born again you have been bought with a price and you now belong to God. Your opinions are only going to hinder you from walking in God’s best. For example scripture clearly teaches we are to have a pastor and be connected with a church body. Yet many believers do not obey this truth. Choosing our opinion over the Word hinders having that Word settled in our hearts. You should live by the following truth; if God’s Word says it, I believe it, and that settles it. When you stop living by your opinion of God’s Word and take everything He says as the way to live and believe, your faith will become stronger.

We Have A Helper

Ephesians 1:13

And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.

When we receive Christ we receive the Holy Spirit to come and live in us. One of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit is to be our guide, leading us in the will of God for our life. He leads us by bearing witness with our spirit. Believers often look for guidance every other way instead of the way God said it would come. God does not guide us through outward circumstances, but through His Word, and through the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:16 tells us that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit, the inner man, the real you, for you are a spirit who has a soul and lives in a body. Jesus said that we would have a Helper in the Holy Spirit and the way we would know if we are going in the right direction or not would be revealed by a peace within or a lack of peace.

When we are making decisions in line with His will there will be this inner peace that lets us know we are going the right way. But when we miss it with God then we will have an agitation or a check in our spirit which reveals we are not in the will of God. The Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of truth. We know when we are being led by the Holy Spirit it will always be in line with His Word for God’s Word is truth. So learn to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit who has been sent to guide you in this life and you can walk in the plan God has for you.
