11 And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing].
When a boxer steps into a ring he does so to fight an opponent in hopes he will be the champion and win the fight. As believers once born again, we do not step into the ring of life trying to win a battle against our enemy satan, we step into the ring because we are the champion. Jesus already defeated him! When someone who is born again is trying to defeat the works of the devil they are going to lose. We don’t try to defeat him, we enforce the victory that is already ours.
As the above verse tells us, we overcame him. It did not say we will overcome, we have overcome. To enforce this victory that is already ours we must do three things.
#1. Understand the power of Jesus’ blood, and what that blood did for us. His blood cleansed us and recreated us in the image of God. Just as Jesus trampled on the enemy that is what we are to now do as well, but we must walk in the revelation of what His blood has done for us.
#2. We must have a confession in line with what His shed blood did accomplish for us. When believers talk defeat, talk the problem, etc, instead of declaring the victory that is already theirs, they are not going to walk in the victory that belongs to them. It is our testimony that causes us to rise up to our place in Christ.
#3. We must also stop loving our life. Simply put, stop calling the shots, and instead fully obey and follow the ways of Christ. You have been bought with a price, His shed blood, we need to live like it. Do these three things and you can walk in the victory that is already yours!
